Default OT Charcoal no airbrush, young Joan Collins

Did my first charcoal of the season, haven't done one since last March. Not sure I am finished but am sick of it for now. These always look better once matted in black and put under non glare glass. The non-glare kind of acts like a soft filter and smooths out the tooth a bit..
This is 8x12 on high end printmakers paper, vine and willow charcoal.

Original photo can be found here http://www.doctormacro1.info/Images/...%20Joan_19.jpg

    Love it!
There's just something so personal with charcoal, chalks, or pastels, you physically get into the drawing like almost no other medium.

Your model is extremely cute, I wonder if she has an older sister...

Thanks man! Charcoal is fun.. not much you can not erase if you mess up.
Now about Joan and her older sister.. a quick google tells me she is the older sister.. Joan Collins born 1933 sister Jackie born 1939

Here is where I got the reference.. lots of great high res photos of old time actors and actresses

Thanks everyone! PDG if you use the charcoal as if it was paint rather than as they teach in basic drawing class, it is very clean and neat. I work on these in a light tan cloth chair in the living room.. wife has not killed me yet!

I started a pen in ink (dippy pen) the other day to try out the medium. .. not sure I picked the right subject and not sure I like the medium... more to come .. maybe..

Hey thanks for reminding me about pen and ink !
I tried that a few years ago and really enjoyed the results and effects,
and had (kind of) forgotten about it till you mentioned it here.
