Default WHEN/HOW change filter on compressor

So a long time ago,,maybe 3 yrs ago,,i purchased this SILENT AIR COMPRESSOR 50TC, the terry hill brand,,AND its been my baby,,i love it,,heres some tech tips on maintanence for your compressor:

As you see,,my compressor is DIRTY, OVERSPRAY,,just well worked on a daily basis,,and Don told me once to check my filter,,"WHAT FILTER" i thought,,this filter,,located on the side of your machine,,black knob that twists off,,there is a tiny hole with a filter in it,,

now i twist it off,,and i find this WET,,SLIMMY YUCKY used up filter,,that i picked at constantly because plenty of times,,my machine sounded like it kept turning on even when it wasnt in use,,and i found this filter piled high with overspray,,so i picked at it,,

i purchased these straight from the silent air company,,and the gentlemen told me on the phone the whole procedure ,,HE SAID,,this filter should be changed 3 times a month,,AND to put 2 filters in there,,NOT ONE,,wow,,little did i know,,i never changed mine from day one,,so i take my new filter and pop them in the black knob,,but before that i realize there is some caked yuckie overspray stuck in side the knob,,scrap them out,,just get a rag and wipe in there

hey thats a good point,,i wonder if thats why my gun is screwing up,,HUMM,I DIDNT TEST IT YET,,i was drawing up sketches last night,,but ill let ya know if there is improvement,,should be,,my compressor was turning on every like 6 mins,,,crazy

brush i bought the compressor after 3 hobby compressors that the sales clerk guaranteed me were the best,,,after blowing my first few sales on compressors,,each one costs me about a buck and a half,,and the first one had no water trap,,one was a hobby one about 80 bucks,,and another one was about 300 dollars with water trap but no gauge and shut automatic shut off built in,,VERY ANNOYING,,TURNED OFF EVERY 15 MINS,,so in the middle of flow of spraying,,right on a good spot of painting,,the thing would turn right off on me,,and i would loose concentration,,,IN THE END,,my boss let me purchase the item borrowing a loan by taking out few buckS here and there of my pay, GRAND TOTAL OF IT WAS 700 DOLLARS,,,and since than we have been best friends,, I ADJUST PRESSURE ALL THE TIME,,LOVE THE DAM THING,,

hope this info helps you guys out there,,and redneck he was very professional

Reguardless of the compressor type, make, or model, the filters and compressor will last longer and use less filter if you keep it far away from your painting area.

Having your compressor near to where you are painting makes the compressor suck in all the paint and dust contaminated air. That contaminated air packs up the filters, makes your compressor run hotter than it normally would, which in turn cooks the oil prematurely, and that too adds to the wear and tear on your compressor.

Keep your compressor as far away as you can from where you paint, and keep it upwind if possible.
