how do you determine the width of pinstrip ? will a 1/4 inch width pinstrip be okay if I use 2 different colors or will 1/8 look better at a distance ?

wow good question,,never knew it made a difference on pin-striping as long as they were both even in thickness? from start to finish,,and both lines had same thickness value,,,I COULD BE WRONG,,NEVER PIN STRIPPED,
nat, you are right ,if the width varies than it will had to be redone , I intend to make it as easy as I can for myself and 1/4 inch stripe would be easier for my eyes, but do not know if 1/4 inch would look good
redneck before i try to suggest something,,UNDERSTAND i have never done pin-stripping before,,but just throwing a suggestion out there,,,why not take a marker do the lines on paper,,and hold it up on the truck to see the difference,,oooo wait it just came to me,,little slow there,,,get tape and do the lines on the truck,,with the thickness you want and maybe you can visualize it,,,BUT REDNECK I DONT KNOW IF THIS IS HOW ITS DONE,,just GUESSING,,im sure the pros will be by soon,,,dont waste ya time with my guesses wait till some pin-stripper picks up on the thread,,,mines too time consuming,,![]()
1/4 inch is pretty wide you would have to use about a #2 brush to pull it off. I have seen long lines done in 1/4 with a smaller 1/8: line in the same or another color directly underneath it. For designs 1/8" is more the norm also most flame outlines are 1/8th. AL
Quarter inch lines are hard to do. Some guys tape and paint and then out line with another color. I have got quarter inch fine line tape laid it out. Paint between tape, pull tape, then outline it. Its very hard to pull that one off.
Try different ways to see what fits your ideas. I nver got into doing the
wider stuff, but it looks good on certain things.
