    Default 1 shot ?

    hi

I would like to know if 1 shot can be applied over a clear coated surface without scuffing the surface ?
Is 1 shot can be swiped with white spririt or 1 shot thinner without doing any damage on a clearcoated surface ? In case of error !)

    Thanks

The only time I have ever used 1 shot was over a clearcoated surface. It's ideal for that and almost any surface and adheres really well. From what I know it does not react real well under clear.
Anytime I've made any mistakes I just wiped off with mineral spirits or laquer thinner or the reducer.
Ther are a few veteren stripers here that may chime in also Pat.

I do know if you plan on clearing over 1shot you have to catalize it. If not it will crack the clear.

used 1shot for years as my trade is a signwriter its perfect for any surface but you will always have problems clear coating it the way you do it is to very lightly mist coat it a few times till dry then clear as normal with almost no thinner in laquer just hardener..even big truck spraying companys have laquered my work over the years and not had a problem using this method

One shot is a enamel paint used for striping and lettering. Like everyone has said, mostly used over a clear. Like the folks you see striping a shows. Can be manipulated to be cleared but that is another conversation. Thin it with a bit of 6000 series reducer and stripe away.

i thin it 1-1 with 6000 reducer to spray through an airbrush, works really well and looks good too.

i did a couple murals on a few exterior windows and all i had to do was make sure the windows were scraped and clean, it also really helps to add fish eye remover when painting on glass with 1shot

great for signs, glass work, pinstriping, vinyl banners

I remember back in the 1970's I used One Shot, then put a
Synthetic Emamel clear over it. In those days the paints were not
as touchy as today. Everyone tried al kinds of paint concoctions
then when the newer paints like Imron, Deltron, Dau75 and RM 2k came
out, alot of people ate alot of paint and striping jobs because of lifting,
    wrinkling, clear falling off.

I just believe in using Oil Based type paints as the last paint. Never clearing over it. If its to be cleared, I use a brushing lacquer or euro type paint
    that clear will not attack.

I have never had the mineral spirits dull the clear. If I have to wipe the paint off I do so and then immediately wash off the mineral spirits using water with a couple drops of Dawn in it followed by an alcohol and water mix. Noteslightly OT) I have found that a mixture of 50% water and 50% rubbing alcohol works well on plastic parts like saddle bags etc; to get rid of static electricity. PPG makes an anti static cleaner but it is pricey and smells just like alcohol. I better knock on wood, but I have cleared over 1 shot using the hardener, allowing the stripes to dry over night and then using the mist method previously mentioned. But that was only because I had no urethane striping enamel. BTW anyone tried the fairly new Dupont urethane striping enamel? I am not real impressed with the HOK or X-otic stuff, probably just me.
